Privacy Policy
Loan Tracker is an add-on for Google Sheets made by TinyOrbit Apps ("we", "us"). It helps you keep a record of money you lend to and borrow from people, inside a spreadsheet you own. This policy explains what data the add-on uses and what happens to it.
What the add-on can access
The add-on only works with the spreadsheet you open it in. It cannot see your other spreadsheets, your Google Drive, your email or anything else in your Google account. Inside that spreadsheet it reads and writes the sheets it creates: Add Entry, Dashboard, Balances, Statement, Transactions, People, Settings and Lists.
That spreadsheet can contain whatever you type into it, for example:
- names, nicknames, phone numbers, payment handles (such as Venmo or Zelle) and notes about the people you lend to or borrow from;
- transaction dates, amounts, payment modes, references, purposes and notes;
- your display settings (currency, date format, locale and time zone).
Permissions we ask for, and why
| Permission | Why the add-on needs it |
|---|---|
See, edit, create and delete only the spreadsheet the add-on is used in
(spreadsheets.currentonly) |
To build the tracker sheets, save new entries, and calculate balances and statements. |
Display and run third-party web content in prompts and sidebars inside Google applications
(script.container.ui) |
To show the Loan Tracker menu, the Add entry sidebar and messages such as confirmations. |
Allow this application to run when you are not present
(script.scriptapp) |
To set up an edit trigger on that spreadsheet, so ticking Submit on the Add Entry sheet saves your entry, including in the Google Sheets mobile app. The trigger only runs when the spreadsheet is edited. |
Where your data is stored
Everything is stored in your spreadsheet, in your Google account. The add-on also keeps two small values attached to the spreadsheet (the last Entry ID it handed out, and the tracker's version number) so that IDs are never reused and updates can be applied. These stay with the spreadsheet.
The add-on runs on Google Apps Script, Google's platform for add-ons. Your data is processed by Google under Google's Privacy Policy, the same as any other spreadsheet you use.
What we do not do
- We do not send your data to our own servers or to any third party. We have no servers.
- We do not use analytics, tracking, cookies or advertising in the add-on.
- We do not sell, rent or share your data.
- We do not use your data to train AI or machine-learning models.
- We cannot read your spreadsheet. Only you and the people you share it with can.
Fonts
The Add entry sidebar loads the IBM Plex Sans font from Google Fonts. Like any web page that uses Google Fonts, your browser contacts Google's servers to download it. No spreadsheet data is sent. See Google Fonts' privacy FAQ.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Loan Tracker's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Sharing your spreadsheet
If you share your spreadsheet with other people, they can see everything in it, including the people and transactions you recorded. Think about this before sharing, as the tracker can hold personal details about others.
Keeping or deleting your data
- Your data stays in your spreadsheet until you delete it. You can edit or delete any row, sheet or the whole file at any time.
- To remove the add-on, open a spreadsheet and choose Extensions → Add-ons → Manage add-ons, then uninstall Loan Tracker. Uninstalling does not delete your spreadsheet.
- To remove the add-on's access to your Google account, go to myaccount.google.com/permissions and remove Loan Tracker.
Children
Loan Tracker is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects what data the add-on can access, the add-on will ask for your permission again before it uses that access.
